PURPOSE
To connect with other Flash Fiction Writers and build a dynamic community of support and opportunity
To share one's works in progress - offer and receive feedback
To advance the flash fiction writing skills, production, and market opportunities amongst participants

SCHEDULE
The Critique Circle meets twice a month, in a warm, respectful, supportive environment, in Yaletown, Vancouver.
CRITIQUE CIRCLE - FORMAT, CRITERIA, PROVISO
FORMAT
Each Critique Circle participant has an opportunity to present their current work in progress within a 15 minute block, including critique/feedback.
The work in progress is to be read aloud at the Circle (in full, or an excerpt), for critique/feedback.
Participants may prepare and present a number of specific questions and/or areas of concern they would like the group to consider in critiquing the flash piece. Comments are offered based on the parameters set by each presenter. These parameters may vary as the challenges of each flash fiction differ, and the stage of development of the work in progress differs, as does the needs of the presenter at various stages of the work in progress.
The presenter is to 'listen', and receive the comments silently (and/or while making notes), and then move on to the next person offering feedback.
Circle members offer comments one at a time. There is no 'free-for-all'.
Participants bringing a Flash Fiction to the Circle for critique/feedback are expected to bring enough paper copies for Circle members to review and make notes on, while the work in progress is being read and critiqued. (all copies are then returned to the Participant at that time)
All Critique/feedback is to be positive, encouraging, and constructive.

It is expected that participants will attend on a regular basis. The group atmosphere is built by creating a safe and respectful environment in which to share works in progress. This necessitates that participants are familiar with one another. and one another's work. Continuity is essential in making the Critique Circle work effectively.

PROVISO
The following two provisos are sacrosanct, and must be followed without exception, to ensure the Critique Circle remains a place of safety, support, and trust. Without this assurance, the Critique Circle would not be able to operate.
Proviso #1
All written material (works in progress -'wip') circulated by participants, and/or presented at the Critique Circle for critique/feedback are to be kept confidential amongst the participants of the Critique Circle. None of the material (wip) may be shared with anyone (in whole or in part) outside the Critique Circle without the expressed written permission of the participant. - It is understood by all participants that all material (wip) presented by participants is copyrighted by the writer / author, whether published or not, and cannot be reproduced in whole or in part without the expressed written permission of the participant.
